Bamboo toothbrushes

In Australia, we dispose of over 30 million plastic toothbrushes annually, resulting in approximately 1000 tonnes of landfill. Plastic toothbrush handles will not break down in our life time, nor in the lifetime of our children. If our use of plastic continues to increase, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish by 2050 (by weight). Already, around 98% of seabird chicks have plastic in their stomachs, and plastic toothbrushes are a problem for the albatross, as they look like food when they are floating in the ocean.
