Dr Jess Manuela was born in Tasmania and has grown up in the Kingston area until she moved to Adelaide to pursue her dental degree. During her time at the University of Adelaide she received numerous awards and scholarships including the Australia and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry award, the Pierre Fauchard Academy award for leadership and clinical excellence and the Rotary Health Scholarship. Recently, Dr Manuela was awarded the 2017 St Lukes Healthier Communities award and was also named the 2017 Premier’s Young Achiever of the Year. She was also the chair person for oral health promotion for the Australian Dental Association Tasmanian Branch (2013-2017).
Dr Manuela decided in 2014 to start a dental clinic in the charming Margate area. The practice has grown to having 3 full time dentists. She is opening a second sister dental clinic in Blackmans Bay.
Jess is passionate about preventative dental care and learning the “basics”. She is a strong believer that the mouth is connected to the body so she always takes a holistic approach to dental treatment and tailors treatment to each individual patient. Jess spends a lot of time educating her patients so that they have the skills necessary to look after themselves for their lifetime.
Dr Manuela is passionate about all aspects of dentistry but particularly likes getting children in to healthy habits at a young age and cosmetic dentistry. Dr Manuela is a member of the Australasian Academy of Dento-Facial Aesthetics and is excited about being able to offer her patients wrinkle relaxants, dermal filler treatments, thread lifts and PRP facial rejuvenation.
In Dr Manuela’s spare time she likes to play the guitar, paint, cook and referee soccer. Jess is also proud to have indigenous heritage and would like to be involved with mentoring indigenous students in the local area and doing locum work in indigenous communities.
